Reverse Plank

A posterior chain assessment testing the ability to achieve and hold full hip extension. Performed in three progressive options based on client ability.

All Assessments

Criteria to Pass

  • Hands placed directly under shoulders (Options 2 and 3)
  • Elbows remain locked out throughout (Options 2 and 3)
  • Both hands and heels remain on the ground
  • A straight line is established from ankles (Option 3), or knees (Options 1 and 2), through the core and shoulders
  • Full extension of the hips occurs — hips do not drop or pike
  • Toes stay pointed straight up (Option 3)
  • Position is held for a minimum of 5 seconds
